Live tonite presents Wine Lips long awaited debut in Belfast, the psych garage punk rock phenomenon formed in Toronto in 2015, the band began as a part-time project between songwriter and vocalist/guitarist Cam Hilborn and powerhouse drummer Aurora Evans. What started as a casual collaboration quickly turned into a full-throttle musical venture that has captivated audiences around the world. The band’s self-titled debut album propelled them across North America, setting the stage for what would become an unrelenting trajectory of growth and success. In 2018, an intensive tour of Hong Kong and China further cemented Wine Lips’ reputation as a band to watch. The following year, they released their acclaimed sophomore album, “Stressor” (2019), which earned rave reviews and critical acclaim. Tracks from the album dominated radio charts across North America and Europe, while multiple songs found their way into popular TV series and Netflix originals.
In 2020, when the global pandemic brought touring to a halt, Wine Lips turned their focus inward. The result was their groundbreaking third album, “Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party” (2021), recorded with producer Simon Larochette at The Sugar Shack. The release was a turning point, garnering over 250 glowing reviews from media outlets spanning 35+ countries. The album’s lead single, “Eyes,” became a licensing sensation, featured in films, series, and video games, including ABC’s The Rookie and Hockey Night in Canada. Streaming numbers soared, with the album approaching 20 million spins on Spotify, and the vinyl pressing reached its 7th edition, boasting nine unique color variants. Following the release, the band embarked on extensive touring, selling out large venues and continuing to expand their fanbase.
In 2024, Wine Lips unleashed their latest and most ambitious project yet: “Super Mega Ultra.” Recorded again with Larochette at The Sugar Shack, this 12-track masterpiece takes their signature sound to exhilarating new heights. Packed with supersonic, ear-scorching energy, the album explores fresh thematic ground while staying true to their psych garage punk roots. With relentless touring already booked, Super Mega Ultra is set to elevate Wine Lips to even greater heights.
From humble beginnings in Toronto to headlining sold-out venues worldwide, Wine Lips is a testament to the power of raw talent, tireless dedication, and a little bit of chaos. The ride shows no signs of slowing down, and for fans of boundary-pushing rock, that’s very good news.
“It’s tough writing a new record when you’re always on tour. The previous album seemed to be doing really well and at times I felt like I was hitting a wall creatively. Long story short, I think this album turned out great. Simon always brings a good vibe at the Sugar Shack and we were able to try some new ideas and capture the energy without straying too far from our roots. Excited to see where these songs take us in the future.” – Cam Hilborn
“It’s pure adrenaline, it’s noise, it’s intense, it’s refreshing, and it feels life-giving. The garage-psych band’s new album is, for all intents and purposes, pretty fucking crazy.” – Exclaim!
“There’s a sensuality and strong sense of controlled chaos that these Canadians bring to life on the record.” – New Noise Magazine
“Now that’s what I call music!.” – Iggy Pop BBC Radio 6
