Belfast’s New Folk Rock group,
The John Lindsay band play an evening of original music written by John Lindsay and Grainne McGlone at the famous music hall upstairs at The Deers Head Belfast. The evening will be seated cabaret style with tables and chairs. The band will be joined by three wonderful support acts Ben Cutler, Rachael Nitya and Steve Amos.
Ben Cutler
Belfast native Ben Cutler has shed his old sound and reinvented himself with a healthy dose of bluesy rock.

Ben has had a storied and successful career to date despite his young age. He found success as a busker at Banbridge Buskfest across several years and was a finalist in the UK Song Academy Songwriters competition where he found fans in Tom Odell and Jamie Theakston.
In 2021, he was selected to take part in 21 Artists for the 21st Century Programme which resulted in a sell-out gig in Belfast’s Lyric Theatre and a performance at 10 Downing Street.
Ben is a regular feature on the live scene across Ireland and in recent years has played at Holywood Harmony Festival, Sunflowerfest, Fiddler’s Green Festival, Camp Dalfest and Wild Roots to name but a few. He was also invited by blues and folk legend Dom Martin to support him on his Irish tour.

RACHAEL NITYA is debuting her new band at the Deer’s Head on 1st of March, which will also launch her single Cosmic Game. Her music is created from the heart to uplift & inspire. An adventure into consciousness with chill electro, tribal sounds, acoustic piano, guitar layers and vocal dreaminess. Rachael’s passion is to elevate, connect and free us on deeper levels through music.

Steve Amos
STEVE AMOS is a brilliant comedy singer/songwriter based in Holywood, Northern Ireland. Since retiring from the finance industry some 16 years ago Steve has turned his hand to writing comedy songs and has written over 150 masterpieces. His musical tastes are eclectic and he is willing to steal from, sorry adapt, all types of musical genres.
Subtlety would not be a word used to describe Steve’s approach to songwriting. He is always happy to attack vulnerable targets and he rarely makes a point that is not already glaringly obvious.He has recorded four CDs, all masterpieces, whose sales have only been exceeded by returns and his stage act leaves little to the imagination. He will travel to engagements anywhere in the UK, Ireland or Europe. Languages are no barrier as he can offend people merely by standing still.
Steve’s masterful wordplay has been compared to Goethe, Proust and Cervantes – in fact to many great authors who wrote in languages other than English. The John Lindsay Band
The John Lindsay Band will launch their new single ‘Parallel Universe’ and will play a set of original songs written by John Lindsay and Grainne McGlone that move between traditional rock, folk rock and contemporary folk ballads.
This highly accomplished band plays the Deers Head following several wonderfully successful recent Belfast gigs including Accidental Theatre, The American Bar and The Harland and Wolf Club. The group comprises, Simon Dickson on Drums, David Murphy on bass, David Lindsay on Lead Guitar, Grainne McGlone on backing vocals and John Lindsay on Vocal and rhythm/acoustic guitars.
John Lindsay bought his first guitar in 1971. He was influenced by many of the rock bands and artists of the time such as Pink Floyd, Wishbone Ash, The Rolling Stones and Neil Young. However, John, Grainne and their band have brought these influences right up to date with contemporary songwriting and musical style that gives that early 1970s originality the 2024 feel.
Music was a pastime for John until 2015 when he decided to concentrate on songs he had written since 1978 and made his debut album entitled ‘What’s Not to Love’. It reflects his life in Ireland and how he was influenced by his family.
In 2016 John teamed up with lyricist/music promoter Grainne McGlone. John and Grainne were unlikely collaborators with very different life experiences, backgrounds and upbringing but struck up a successful song writing partnership. They toured with the debut album in Ireland, UK, Europe and USA. During this adventure they began to construct songs for a new Album, this is where ‘Two’ was born. Grainne and John produced a diverse eclectic mix of songs with a largely acoustic feel. Whilst there are several strong ballads they have broken the mould of normal album construct with rousing added touches of Rockabilly, Americana and Reggae. The lyrical content takes you on an emotional roller coaster exploring the depths of dysfunctional relationships or on a journey of love and fun. Several wonderful singles have also been released. The most recent ‘Deep Desire’ is a rock song with the feel of a CSI series and an amazing unforgettable chorus.
